Application of carbon fiber composite materials in building reinforcement

Carbon fiber composite materials have high elastic modulus, excellent mechanical properties and light weight. They can be elastically stretched and optimized according to the target structure reinforcement requirements, and can be used in the reinforcement of target structures in a variety of forms such as carbon fiber cloth, carbon fiber sheet, carbon fiber rod, and carbon fiber rope. For example, carbon fiber ropes are mostly used in the reinforcement of suspension bridge structures with large spans and high loads; carbon fiber sheets are mostly used in the repair of broken parts of buildings and structural reinforcement.

 

1. Application of carbon fiber composite materials in wood structure reinforcement

 

Wood structure is an important building structure, and its rigidity, strength, and structural stability are weaker than those of reinforced concrete and other structures. Traditional wood structure reinforcement methods, such as bolt connection, rivet connection, and steel plate reinforcement, not only affect the appearance of the wood structure, but rivets and bolts are prone to rust and corrosion in a humid or acid-base imbalance environment, and the connection and reinforcement construction will also cause the shape of the wood structure to deform. The application of carbon fiber composite materials in wood structure reinforcement is mostly to make carbon fiber composite materials into carbon fiber plates and attach them to the surface of the wood structure to improve the rigidity, strength, and actual bearing capacity of the wood structure, reduce deformation under high loads, effectively improve the bending resistance, fatigue resistance, aging resistance, and environmental adaptability of wood components, and improve the service life of wood structure buildings.

 

2. Application of carbon fiber composite materials in reinforced concrete structure reinforcement

 

Reinforced concrete structure is a mainstream building structure with good mechanical properties such as stiffness and strength. However, due to the poor crack resistance and tensile strength of concrete materials, structural cracks are prone to occur in key parts when concrete is stretched, resulting in low seismic performance. The application of carbon fiber composite materials in the reinforcement of reinforced concrete structures is mostly to bond carbon fiber composite materials with reinforced concrete structures to form a strong bonding interface, thereby improving the overall stiffness, strength, tensile strength and crack resistance of reinforced concrete structures, and reducing the plastic deformation of the bonded whole with the good elastic modulus and stress transfer ability of carbon fiber composite materials, thereby improving the overall seismic performance. Among them, common bonding methods include external bonding, embedded bonding, local bonding, etc. For example, local bonding is to use carbon fiber plates or carbon fiber strips for local bonding of weak parts or areas in reinforced concrete structures to improve the compressive and tensile strength of the parts.

 

3.Application of carbon fiber composite materials in steel structure reinforcement

 

Steel structure is a common structure in house construction, with the characteristics of light weight, high structural reliability and good toughness. However, steel materials are easy to deform and corrode, and have poor bending and shear resistance. The application of carbon fiber composite materials in steel structure reinforcement is mostly to bond or coat the carbon fiber composite materials on the surface of the steel structure to form a new stress-bearing layer on the surface of the steel structure, thereby improving the mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of the steel structure. For example, carbon fiber, steel materials and high-performance cement are compounded to form steel structure construction materials, and carbon fiber plates are bonded in orthogonal special-shaped steel bridge decks to achieve reinforcement of the welding parts of the steel structure diaphragm and longitudinal ribs, improve the welding quality of the welding parts, and effectively improve the mechanical properties of the steel structure.
